How does Tenant Access work

How Does Tenant Access Work on Fluss Plus

This article explains Tenant Access in Fluss Plus — a powerful feature that grants trusted users (like tenants) permanent entry rights while allowing them to invite guests for short, controlled periods. Tenant Access is especially useful for residential complexes, estates, Airbnb hosts, or complex homeowners managing multiple visitors. Owners/admins retain full control, including the ability to revoke access or adjust settings at any time. Changes to Tenant Access settings affect both new and existing tenant users.

What is Tenant Access ?

Tenant Access gives the invited user "Always" (permanent) access to the device, meaning they can come and go as they please until revoked. In addition, it empowers them to send temporary guest invites. Guests receive time-limited access (configurable by the owner/admin, typically between 15 minutes and 3 days, though defaults and options may include shorter durations like 1 hour). There may also be a limit on how many guests a tenant can invite, set by the owner.

Key benefits:

  • Ideal for Airbnb hosts, guesthouses, residential complexes, estates, or properties with ongoing tenants/visitors.
  • Allows delegation of limited guest management without giving full admin rights.
  • Owners can revoke any tenant or guest access instantly for security.

How to Grant Tenant Access

  1. Open the Invite feature
In the Fluss+ app, tap 'Invite' (usually in the bottom middle of the home screen).
  2. Select the device
Choose the specific Fluss device (or devices) you want to grant access to.
  3. Choose Access Type
From the available options (there are five access types), select Tenant as the new access type.
  4. Send the invite
Add recipients (from contacts, phone number, or CSV upload), review details, then tap 'Send Invite' or 'Give Access'. The tenant will receive permanent access and the ability to invite guests per your device settings.

Managing Tenant Access Settings & Guest Invites

Important: Only the device owner or admin can adjust Tenant Access settings. Revoking a tenant's access immediately removes their permanent entry and disables their ability to invite new guests (existing active guest accesses may persist until expiry unless individually revoked).

To adjust guest invite duration and limits (owner/admin only):

  1. Go to device settings
Navigate to 'Devices' > select the device > 'Settings' (or similar menu).
  2. Locate Tenant Access section
Scroll to the Tenant Access area at the bottom.
  3. Customize options
Set the maximum temporary invite duration (e.g., 15 minutes to 3 days, or other available options like 1 hour default). You can also set limits on the number of guests a tenant can invite simultaneously or total.
  4. Save changes
Tap the blue 'SAVE' button (may require confirming twice). Settings apply immediately to new invites and may update existing tenant permissions.

When a Tenant invites guests: They follow a similar invite process in their app, selecting their Tenant access and sending a temporary invite. Guests get access only for the configured duration (no ability to invite others further).

Security & Best Practices

  • Only grant Tenant Access to trusted individuals (e.g., long-term tenants) — it provides permanent access plus guest invitation rights.
  • Regularly review access logs in the app to monitor entries/exits by tenants and their guests.
  • Adjust invite durations and guest limits conservatively to minimize risk (e.g., shorter times for higher-security needs).
  • Immediately revoke access for any tenant who no longer requires it — this affects both their entry and guest-inviting ability.
  • Use strong account security (e.g., enable 2FA if available) and verify you're on the official app.fluss.io or Fluss+ app.
