Bluetooth vs. Wi-Fi Access – Device Visibility in the App

When someone shares access with you, Bluetooth connection is always included by default. Wi-Fi access (for remote control from anywhere) is an optional extra that the sharer can choose to give or not.

AlertImportant: Key tip for sharers (Owners/Full/Tenant):
Only grant WiFi access to people you fully trust, as it enables remote triggering from anywhere in the world. For visitors or contractors, Bluetooth-only is usually safer and sufficient.

The Fluss+ device uses two ways to connect to your phone: Bluetooth (short-range, local) and Wi-Fi (internet/remote). Here's what you need to know:

  • Bluetooth is available based on the access type availability (if a user has time restriction, it will not be available for them). The device will only appear on your Fluss+ app home page when you are physically close (the blue button will appear on the home screen) — within Bluetooth range (typically up to 10 metres / 33 feet, depending on walls/obstacles).
  • If the sharer gives you WiFi access too, the device will appear on your app home page all the time (A circular button will appear on top) — even when you're far away or not at home. This allows you to trigger/open the gate/door remotely from anywhere with internet (e.g., while at work or on holiday). For more info, here's an article to explain how to trigger remotely How to trigger remotely on Fluss+
  • If you don't have WiFi access (most common for Temporary, Repeat, or Always types unless specifically added), the device won't show up on the home page until you're in Bluetooth range. It hasn't disappeared — you just need to be physically nearby for it to connect and become visible/usable.

Where to Find Your Device Access Type

To find out what kind of access type you have been granted for a Fluss+ device, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Fluss+ app and go to the home page.
  2. Look at the bottom navigation bar and tap the Devices section (at the bottom left).
  3. You will see one or more of the following tabs/categories:
    • My Fluss Devices – for devices you own or have claimed yourself
    • Shared Fluss Devices – for devices that others have shared/invited you to
    • Expired Fluss Devices – for access that has already ended (temporary invites, etc.)
  4. Navigate to the relevant device:
    • If someone shared access with you → check under Shared Fluss Devices
    • If you personally claimed/own the device → check under My Fluss Devices
    • If your device is under the expired session, you may need to request person who has invited you to update your access.
Select the device by tapping its name (the custom name that was assigned to that Fluss+ device).
  5. Once the device detail page opens, look at the top section. Under ACCESS TYPE, it will clearly display your access level (e.g., Owner, Full, Tenant, Always, Repeat, or Temporary).

This is the quickest way to check your permissions, see whether you can invite others, trigger remotely (Wi-Fi), or view logs, and understand any limitations on your access.

InfoTip: If the device isn’t appearing in any category, double-check that your invitation is still valid and that you’re logged in with the correct phone that your administrator has given access to you.

If the device isn't appearing at all, make sure you're in range, Bluetooth is on, and check the Bluetooth Troubleshooting Guide for Fluss+ for permissions or app refresh steps.
