This guide explains how to install a Fluss+ sensor using the magnetic switch method. This option uses a small switch and magnet to detect whether your gate, door, or barrier is open or closed — ideal for motors that do not provide a status output terminal or for any installation where a universal method is preferred.
Before you start: Ensure your Fluss+ is claimed and connected to WiFi. If you haven’t done this yet, please complete the initial Fluss+ installation first – Universal Installation Guide.
A claimed Fluss+ device connected to Wi-Fi.
Small flat-head screwdriver.
Medium flat-head screwdriver.
Magnetic switch sensor package (reed switch + magnet + wires). See Step 1.
Your magnetic switch package includes a reed switch, a separate magnet, and the connecting wires. A common example is the MC-38 Wired Door/Window Sensor.
When laid out, the components look like this:
If a Fluss+ is already connected to your motor, unscrew the wires going to the motor. Make a note of where each wire was connected so you can restore power correctly afterwards.
Safety: Always disconnect power to the motor/gate system before handling wires to avoid electrical hazards.
Open the Fluss+ casing. On the PCB you’ll notice a <> symbol indicating where the sensor wire connects. The green arrow below points to this terminal:
Connect a sensor wire to the <> terminal: Use a small screwdriver to slightly loosen the terminal marked with the <> symbol. Thread one of the sensor wires through the plastic casing, insert it into the <> terminal, and tighten the screw to secure the connection.
Wire type reference: The sensor wires must be either Normally Closed (NC) or Normally Open (NO). You’ll select the matching type in the Fluss+ app later (Step 5).
Black wires are typically Normally Closed (NC).
White wires are typically Normally Open (NO).
The second sensor wire needs to be connected to the voltage section of the motor to provide power to the sensor circuit. Usually this is the same terminal section where the Fluss+ red wire connects.
Mount the reed switch on a fixed surface (e.g. the gate post or frame) and the magnet on the moving part (e.g. the gate itself). Position them so that the magnet and reed switch touch — or sit very close together — when the gate is fully closed.
How it works: When the magnet is touching/near the reed switch, the state registers as ‘Closed’. When the gate opens and the magnet moves away, the state registers as ‘Open’.
Important: The magnet switch must actually make contact (or be within a few millimetres of each other) when the gate is closed, otherwise the state will not display accurately in the app.
Your wiring is now complete. The final step is to enable the sensor and select the correct wire type in the Fluss+ App so your gate's open/closed state displays correctly.

Double-check that both sensor wires are secured in their terminals and that the second wire is connected to a live voltage source.
You likely selected the wrong wire type in the app. Go back to Settings and switch between Normally Closed and Normally Open.
Check the alignment and distance between the magnet and the reed switch. They should touch or be within a few millimetres of each other when the gate is closed.
