How to Add a Fluss+ Widget in CarPlay: Trigger Your Device from the Car Screen

How to add a Fluss+ widget in CarPlay

Fluss+ appears in CarPlay as a widget — the same Fluss widget you can put on your iPhone Home Screen. You add it from your iPhone's CarPlay settings, not from the car screen.

Before you begin

  • Fluss+ app: install it and sign in on the iPhone you connect to the car. The widget reads the devices the app shares with it.
  • iOS 26 or later: widgets can't be added in CarPlay on earlier versions, even though the Fluss widget itself works on the iPhone Home Screen from iOS 17.
  • CarPlay: your car and iPhone must already be set up for CarPlay.
  • Fluss+ Devices: you need at least one on your account.

Note: Have an Android phone? See how to open a Fluss+ Device from Android Auto.

Steps to add the widget

You do all of this on your iPhone, not on the car screen.

1. Open CarPlay settings on your iPhone

On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay.

2. Select your car

Tap your car under My Car.

3. Check that CarPlay is turned on

Make sure the CarPlay toggle at the top is on.

4. Under Customise, tap Widgets

Customise has two options — Apps and Widgets. Tap Widgets.

5. Tap Add Widget

Make sure Show Widgets is on, pick the stack you want, then tap Add Widget. A stack holds up to five widgets.

6. Search for Fluss

Type Fluss into the search field, then tap Fluss+.

7. Add the widget

Tap Add Widget to put it in the stack.

8. Edit the widget and set it up

The widget arrives unconfigured and won't trigger anything until you set it up, so don't stop here. Open the widget's settings and set:

  • Connection — Wi-Fi is the recommended choice and the more dependable of the two. Bluetooth (Beta) triggers the device directly from your phone, with no internet, but you must be within range.
  • Device — the Fluss+ Device this widget should trigger.
  • Confirm before opening — on by default. Left on, the widget needs two taps: the first arms it, the second sends the trigger.

Important: If you chose Wi-Fi and the device you want isn't listed, it's either offline or your access doesn't allow Wi-Fi triggering.

Caution: Confirm before opening applies to Wi-Fi only. On Bluetooth a single tap always triggers the device, whatever this is set to.

9. Tap the widget in the car

Next time you connect, the widget is on the CarPlay screen. It shows the device's name, and on Wi-Fi its status — Open or Closed. Tap it to trigger the device. It shows Triggering…, then Trigger sent.

After adding the widget

You can change the connection, device, or confirmation at any time — either the same way through Settings > General > CarPlay, or by touching and holding the widget on your iPhone Home Screen and tapping Edit Widget. The two are the same settings.

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing comes up when you search for Fluss. Check that the Fluss+ app is installed on that iPhone and has been opened at least once, and that the iPhone is running iOS 26 or later — widgets can't be added in CarPlay below that, even if the widget already works on your Home Screen.
  • The widget is there but does nothing when tapped. It hasn't been edited yet — a widget does nothing until a device is chosen. Go back to step 8.
  • The widget shows "Open Fluss+ to set up". The widget can't find your Fluss+ sign-in. Open the Fluss+ app on your iPhone and sign in — the widget picks it up on its own.
  • The widget shows "No gates available". You're signed in, but no device is available for the connection the widget is set to. On Wi-Fi that means none of your devices are currently online; switch the widget to Bluetooth, or bring the device back online.
  • The widget shows "Offline · tap again". The device isn't reachable over Wi-Fi right now. Tapping again still sends the trigger, but it's likely to fail — check the device's internet connection first.
