How to Add a Fluss+ Widget to Your iPhone Home Screen: One-Tap Gate Access

How to add a Fluss+ widget to your iPhone Home Screen

The Fluss+ widget is a button on your iPhone Home Screen that triggers one of your Fluss+ devices directly, without opening the app. This guide covers adding the widget and choosing which device it controls.

Before you begin

  • You need the Fluss+ app installed and signed in on the iPhone you're adding the widget to.
  • Your iPhone needs iOS 17 or later. The Fluss+ widget isn't available on earlier versions.
  • You need at least one Fluss+ device on your account. A widget triggers a single device, so add one widget per device you want quick access to.
  • Your access to the device must allow triggering it. To use the Wi-Fi connection, your access must also allow Wi-Fi triggering. See the various access types.
  • The Fluss+ widget comes in one size and can be placed on the Home Screen only. Fluss+ does not offer a Lock Screen widget.

Steps to add the widget

1. Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen

Press and hold a blank part of the Home Screen until the app icons begin to jiggle. An Edit button appears at the top of the screen.

2. Tap Edit, then tap Add Widget

Tap Edit, then tap Add Widget in the menu that opens. The widget gallery appears.

3. Search for Fluss

Type Fluss into the search field at the top of the gallery, then tap the Fluss+ result.

4. Add the Fluss+ widget

Tap the Fluss+ widget — listed as Fluss Gate — then tap Add Widget. The widget is placed on your Home Screen. It stays unconfigured until you choose a device in the next steps.

5. Touch and hold the widget, then tap Edit Widget

Touch and hold the new widget and tap Edit Widget. The widget's settings open, showing Connection, Device, and Confirm before opening.

6. Choose the connection

Tap Connection and pick how the widget should reach your Fluss+ device:

  • Wi-Fi — sends the trigger over the internet. Works from anywhere your phone has a connection. Only devices that are currently online appear in the device list.
  • Bluetooth (Beta) — triggers the device directly from your phone, with no internet involved. You need to be within Bluetooth range. All of your devices appear in the list.

Tip: Wi-Fi is the more dependable of the two and is selected by default. Bluetooth triggering is still in beta.

7. Choose the device

Tap Device and choose the Fluss+ device this widget should trigger.

Important: If you chose Wi-Fi and the device you're looking for isn't listed, it's either offline or your access doesn't allow Wi-Fi triggering. Bring the device back online, or choose Bluetooth instead — every device you have access to appears in the Bluetooth list.

8. Choose whether to confirm before opening

Confirm before opening is on by default. Leave it on and the widget needs two taps to trigger: the first tap checks the device's current status, the second sends the trigger. Turn it off and a single tap triggers the device.

Info: Confirm before opening applies to the Wi-Fi connection only. On Bluetooth, a single tap always triggers the device.

9. Tap the widget to test it

Tap the widget once. With Confirm before opening on, the widget shows Tap again to confirm — or the device's status, such as Closed · tap again — and you tap a second time to send the trigger.

After adding the widget

The widget shows Triggering… while the command is sent, then Trigger sent once it succeeds. Below the device name it shows how long ago the status was last updated.

To add a second device, repeat these steps to place another Fluss+ widget — one widget controls one device.

Adding a widget from inside the app

The Fluss+ app has the same walkthrough built in. Open the device, open its Settings page, then tap Add Widget to see the Home Screen Widget guide on screen.

Troubleshooting

  • The widget shows "Open Fluss+ to set up". The widget can't find your Fluss+ sign-in. Open the Fluss+ app and sign in, and the widget picks the sign-in up on its own. See why you are getting signed out.
  • The widget shows "No gates available". You're signed in, but no device is available for the connection you picked. With Wi-Fi selected this means none of your devices are currently online — switch Connection to Bluetooth (Beta), or bring the device back online. See solutions for Wi-Fi disconnection problems.
  • The widget shows "Offline · tap again". The device isn't currently reachable over Wi-Fi. Tapping again still sends the trigger, but it's likely to fail — check the device's internet connection first.
  • The widget shows "Widget storage unavailable". The widget can't read the data the app shares with it. Restart your iPhone, then open the Fluss+ app once to let it re-sync.
